The bolted closure
reactor is a versatile high pressure & high temperature, laboratory batch
reactor. It is used for chemical synthesis of corrosive, hazardous & very
reactive chemicals / petrochemicals as well as materials research. The
5,500 psi @ 650°F (379 bar @ 343°C) pressure rating
is based on the stress level limits of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel
Code Section VIII Division 1. See the "Bolted Closure Pressure Vessels"
bulletin for pressure ratings at other temperatures.

Bolted Closure: Stirred Reactors
The highest pressure rating of the standard laboratory stirred reactors
FEATURES
316SS & HASTELLOY® C-276 materials are standard; other corrosion resistant alloys
are offered
Metal-to-metal
seals resists chemicals & extreme temperature
Standard capacity
range of 300 to 4,000 ml is used as a lab continuous stirred tank reactor
(CSTR) or slurry reactor
Process fittings
in the cover (one for adding powders e.g. catalysts) allows lowering
the tank with lines attached
Sparging, charging,
blowpipe, sampling & cooling coil process connections are ideal for
most chemical reactor processes
The MagneDrive® magnetic mixer used in the stirred reactor eliminates dynamic seals
& assures trouble free mixing
The straight wall
design allows access to the full diameter & depth of the reactor once
the full size cover is removed
Optional process
control instrumentation measures & controls temperature, mixing speed
& pressure
High pressure reactor
equipment is delivered custom configured & after full functional testing
for fast & easy start-up
Obtain expert,
process equipment advice from the manufacturer & ongoing support from
the local, factory approved supplier
BENEFITS
The high pressure reactors can be customized with sightglasses, liners & high pressure analytical probes. Ease of cleaning & elimination of foot bearings reduces the risk of cross-contamination. It has indefinite service life & improved experimental repeatability compared to non-stirred autoclaves, laboratory bombs & reaction kettles. See AE Closure Ultra High Pressure Reactors for pressures above 5,000 psi (379 bar). See Easy Open Laboratory Reactors for pressures of 3,300 psi (227 bar) or less
